Crossing the High Atlas Mountains
We depart Marrakech early in the morning and travel through the majestic High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, reaching an altitude of over 2,200 meters.
Along the way, we enjoy breathtaking panoramic views, traditional Berber villages built into the hillsides, and dramatic mountain landscapes. Several photo stops allow us to capture the beauty of this spectacular route.
Visit Ait Benhaddou – UNESCO World Heritage Site
We arrive at the legendary Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified ksar recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This remarkable example of traditional earthen architecture dates back centuries and stands as one of Morocco’s most iconic landmarks.
We explore its narrow alleys, climb to the top of the hill for panoramic views, and learn about the village’s history as a former caravan stop along trans-Saharan trade routes.

Ouarzazate – The Gateway to the Sahara
After exploring Ait Benhaddou, we continue to Ouarzazate, often referred to as the “Gateway to the Sahara.”
Here, we visit the impressive Taourirt Kasbah, a historic fortress that once served as the residence of the Glaoui family. Its intricate earthen towers and maze-like interior showcase classic southern Moroccan architecture.
